We're a joyful, all-welcoming chorus of seniors who come together to sing, laugh, and share the healing power of music. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just love making music, there's a place for you here.

Love to sing? Join the Asheville Senior Chorus, the community choir for adults in Asheville, North Carolina. No audition is required, and singers of all experience levels are invited to rehearse, perform, build friendships, and share the joy of music together.

The Asheville Senior Chorus—a senior community choir and a unique embodiment of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute‘s (OLLI) community spirit. Their schedule features concerts in the Fall, Spring, and during the Holidays, along with additional performances for the community.

The Asheville Senior Chorus, a singing organization with over two decades of experience, have always been characterized by their strong sense of community and collaboration. Their musical repertoire is diverse, spanning from the works of Bach to the Beatles and beyond. From their inaugural season, they have maintained an unbroken tradition of participating in local events and ceremonies as a way to connect with their communities in Asheville and surrounding towns and cities like Woodfin, Weaverville, Fairview, Biltmore, Candler, North Asheville, West Asheville, etc.

With Chuck Taft, as the director, the group explores and performs an extensive repertoire, from classical masterpieces to popular hits, show tunes, and beloved favorites. The Singers rehearse weekly on Monday evenings from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. in the Mannheimer Room at OLLI’s Reuter
Center on the UNC Asheville Campus from late August through May.

Their music fosters unity, and the act of singing offers numerous health benefits. Rehearsals and performances create lasting friendships and treasured memories, with each gathering bringing joy, purpose, and renewed enthusiasm for music.

What We Do

The Asheville Senior Chorus performs a diverse repertoire of music throughout the year, from classical favorites to contemporary pieces and folk traditions. We rehearse weekly from late August through May in a supportive, collaborative environment where every voice matters. Our singers perform at community events, concert halls, and special occasions across Asheville and the surrounding region. With no experience required, we focus on the joy of making music together while building confidence and skill.

    No auditions required! We welcome all skill levels.

    No problem – we teach as we go. Many members started without reading music.
