We invite you to join us on this musical journey where voices unite in harmony for a greater purpose. Whether you are an avid fan or new to choral music, there is a place for everyone in our chorus. Let us come together under one roof as we celebrate diversity while embracing the joyous spirit that music brings. Come experience firsthand how joining forces with like-minded individuals can create something truly remarkable – a harmonious symphony that resonates far beyond the confines of any concert hall.
Are you looking for a community where your voice matters? The Asheville Senior Chorus welcomes singers of all experience levels to join our thriving group of 50+ adults who share a passion for music and friendship. Whether you’ve sung your whole life or you’re discovering your voice for the first time, there’s a place for you here.
Joining our chorus isn’t just about singing – it’s about becoming part of a supportive community that celebrates music, builds lasting friendships, and enriches your life. Here’s what members love about us:
Nervous about showing up? That’s completely normal, and you won’t be alone. Every member started exactly where you are. Here’s what your first rehearsal will look like:
Here’s the truth: No experience is needed. We have singers who’ve never sung before, singers returning to music after decades, and lifelong musicians. We also have members who can’t read music – we teach you everything you need to know.
When: Mondays | 6:15 – 8:15 P.M.
Where: Reuter Center on UNCA Campus
Cost: Membership Fee
What to Bring: Just yourself – we provide everything else
One of the best parts of joining the Asheville Senior Chorus is the incredible variety of music we perform. We believe great music spans centuries and styles. Here’s what you might be singing:
Every season brings new music to learn and new ways to challenge yourself musically.
Q: Do I need singing experience?
A: No! We have members with zero experience and members who’ve sung their whole lives. Our director, Chuck, creates an environment where everyone learns and grows together. If you can carry a tune in a bucket (or even if you can’t), you’re welcome here.
Q: What if I’m nervous about singing with a group?
A: Everyone feels nervous at first – that’s completely normal. The chorus is designed to be supportive and non-judgmental. You’ll be surrounded by people who understand exactly how you feel. Most members say their nervousness disappears after the first or second rehearsal.
Q: Can I attend just one rehearsal to try it out?
A: Absolutely! Come as a guest and see if it’s right for you. No commitment, no pressure. We want you to feel comfortable before you decide to join.
Q: Is there an audition?
A: Never. We believe every voice matters and every person deserves to experience the joy of singing with others. There are no auditions, no cut-offs, and no judgment.
Q: What if I can’t make every rehearsal?
A: Life happens. We understand that you may need to miss rehearsals occasionally. We ask that you do your best to attend regularly so you can learn the music and build relationships with the group, but we’re flexible.
Q: Do I need to read music?
A: It helps, but it’s not required. We teach members who don’t read music, and many of our singers learn by ear. Chuck will help you along the way.
