The Asheville Senior Chorus is a unique embodiment of OLLI‘s community spirit. Their schedule features concerts in the Fall, Spring, and during the Holidays, along with additional performances for the community.
Under the direction of Chuck Taft, the group studies and performs a wide range of music genres, including classical, popular, show tunes, and other favorites. The Singers hold weekly rehearsals on the UNCA campus in the Mannheimer Room of the Reuter Center (OLLI), Monday evenings from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.
The Asheville Senior Chorus, a singing organization with over two decades of experience, have always been characterized by their strong sense of community and collaboration. Their musical repertoire is diverse, spanning from the works of Bach to the Beatles and beyond. From their inaugural season, they have maintained an unbroken tradition of participating in local events and ceremonies as a way to connect with their communities. Their music fosters unity and the act of singing offers numerous health benefits.
The Asheville Senior Chorus is an active Special Interest Group that meets every week as part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNC-Asheville. Led by Chuck Taft, they produce harmonious tunes while also building strong bonds and valuing shared moments. Their concerts feature a diverse range of musical styles and periods.
